Prof Girish Dwivedi

Dr Girish Dwivedi [MD, PhD (UK), MRCP (UK), FASE] is lab head of the Advanced Clinical And Translational Cardiovascular Imaging Division at the Perkins. He is a Consultant Cardiologist in the UWA School of Medicine and Pharmacology at the Fiona Stanley Hospital. He is also the inaugural Wesfarmers Chair in Cardiology at the Perkins. Prior to joining Perkins, he was appointed as a Canadian Institute of Health Research New Investigator/Clinician Scientist and Consultant Cardiologist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Canada.

Girish's background and training to date is unique and he is one of a few cardiologists in Australia who have advanced multimodality imaging training in Echocardiography, PET, Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI. Dr Dwivedi’s clinical and research interests centre on cardiac imaging, with special emphasis on inflammation as the cause of atherosclerosis, heart failure and cardiomyopathy, and application of myocardial contrast echocardiography, CT, MRI and PET techniques.
